NAIDOC Run Darwin
11th July 2021
#healcountry
This week is NAIDOC week and in light of formal events being cancelled, Darwin Deadlies are pairing with TEAM (Top End Athletic Movement) to support our runners in achieving the goals they have been training hard to achieve! This event has 3 distance options – 6.1km, 11.1km and the Half Marathon (21.1km).
Everyone is welcome to run but you must register ONLINE. You are welcome to come and support, we can make volunteer jobs for anyone who is interested in supporting us, volunteers are also encouraged to register (in distance – choose volunteer option).
Where: East Point Reserve
When: This Sunday 11th July at 7am – check in and bib collection at 6:30am.
Cost: Free – Optional gold coin donation for covering costs of running the event and supporting future events.
Please note that this is more of a social run rather than a formal event and we do not have any traffic control, so please be mindful when crossing roads. You need to BYO water to leave at the aid station (which you will pass every 5 or so km). Please bring a mask to wear while you are not running and try to maintain social distancing.
Overviews
Darwin Deadlies RAW (Runners and Walkers) is a community, not for profit group run by Volunteers. Darwin Deadlies has a committee and welcomes any volunteers for all events throughout the year. Our 2021 committee comprises of 6 members who are all here to help with any questions you may have (committee members listed below). Through this, messages of love and support, virtual runs and personal goals triumphed and Darwin Deadlies remained a strong unit, supporting each other every step of the way. In 2021, we are determined to come back stronger than ever. Darwin Deadlies has developed into its own community; a family, a safe, nurturing, encouraging and inclusive environment for every person to feel welcome, seen, heard and valued.
Darwin Deadlies is affiliated with the Indigenous Marathon Foundation Running & Walking Program (IMF-RAW) and we run free events, programs and training sessions throughout the year. Through this work we have been helping to continually encourage and support not only the health and fitness of our members but build a sense of community and further understanding of First Nation cultures as is shown through our increasing support networks and members.
For any questions, please contact organisers Lily (Deadlies) on 0431 041 464 or Robson (TEAM) on 0417 199 857.
