Reconciliation Week Fun Runs
27 May – 3 June 2021
ABOUT IMF RAW
Did you know IMF I-RAW (Deadly Running) has thrived through the dedication and support from more than 40 female Run Leaders, and 55% of the program’s participants are female. Through the IWD Warrior Run IMF would like to further celebrate and bring awareness to our women leaders and the devoted runners and walkers in our communities.
This social run and walk especially, we would like to recognise and honour the respect, courage, and resilience our women face, in particular one of our junior deadly runners Letasha Embahe.
As some of you are aware, less than 2 months ago Letasha was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, unexpected, Letasha and her mother Devicca were evacuated to Brisbane to begin tests following this diagnoses. Within days of being in Brisbane, Letasha started her first round of treatment and was able to quickly fly home to reignite with her family after a very difficult few weeks. Both her and Devicca are getting ready to fly back down for her second round, leaving her other two siblings back in Cairns. Letasha is also going through the process of losing her hair, something her mother says she is handling much better than her. In Letasha’s words “I think we gonna have one strand of hair left by the time it’s Saturday”. A true character and a true WARRIOR.
