Our goal is to support confident, young, First Nation and non-First Nation youth of between 12-16 years of age, through a run clinic to be held across 2 days (9am – 1pm) of the mid-year school holidays in 2021.

Bramble Bay Runners and Walkers is a community, not for profit, group of First Nations and non-First Nation’s people that have been meeting for the past three years in the Sandgate area to encourage health, fitness and a culturally safe space for friendships and understanding in our community. Bramble Bay RaW is affiliated with the Indigenous Marathon Foundation. As well as training three times a week, we complete fundraising throughout the year to subsidise entry into running events and our group running gear, as well as coordinate and run multiple community events including a NAIDOC and Reconciliation run/walk and other virtual Indigenous Marathon Foundation Events. Through this work we have been helping to continually encourage and support not only the health and fitness of our members but build a sense of community and further understanding of our First Nation culture as is shown through our increasing membership.

Bramble Bay IMF RaW are offering a free run clinic for 12-16 year old youth in our community, which would include guided support on injury prevention, running technique, health nutrition as well as an opportunity for our First Nations and non-First Nations youth to interact in a culturally safe environment. Throughout the clinic there will be not only the opportunity for fun and relevant learning in this space, but also the chance to help uplift the leadership skills and confidence in young First Nations people through participation and mentoring the younger runners/walkers.
